Our boys debate the appeal of the conventional sedan versus the allure of more purpose-driven body forms such as a wagon.

While there’s no booting the appeal of a conventional sedan to the average car owner here in Singapore, an increasingly diverse range of offerings with equally sleek contours have widened the range of choices available to said those looking for something different.

Good old Ben, with his honest to goodness nature, is partial to the conventional sedan; energetic Jon on the other hand, bubbling with all sorts of bright ideas, is more concerned about what best suits his needs.

It may be a case of ‘to each his own’ and our resident motor mouths each state their case.

BC I know in the last issue I said that I liked station wagons, but I suppose I need to add a caveat to that argument. I would take a wagon if, and only if, I needed extra space to cart a roomful of stuff around. Given that I’m still single (and lazy) though, with no real immediate need to utilise a huge boot, a ‘regular’ car like a sedan would be more than good enough for me.

JT It’s obvious that we each share different perspectives on life. From the seriousness of work, to the way we define pleasure, and to what really gets the petrol in our veins flowing. I often agree to disagree, but in this case, I have to ask: What’s up with you and your safe, conventional choices?

I mean… we’re privileged with access to some of the best cars available in the market and you had to pick out a sedan for this conversation. I get it that you lead a fairly regular life, driving out to work, grocery shopping, and occasionally taking the car out for a spin. With a raft of body forms to choose from, why stick with a sedan?
