Choices! Choices! Choices! To be, or not to be, that is the question, said the Bard!
The day one is born, one embarks on a journey of choices. And of course, every choice comes with its own consequences. But if you don't make one, it will be made for you, first by parents, later by your life partner, with the consequences yours and not theirs. Do we wish to be the passive recipient or remain actively engaged in life? The choice is ours!
Born to middle-class refugee parents, wanting to educate their girls was their choice. A brilliant one! Education was one wealth no partition could take away, ever. Marriage at 19 followed, parents' choice as well. Then followed lovely children, my choice, ours, as now we were two, i.e., me and my partner who empowered me to make choices. I was an educated woman with many talents I was discovering, but I was a mother too, and children were my responsibility. A wellthought, happy balance had to be found. My husband and I, together, did. That truly was wonderful. Something part time, maybe! A choice!
