Nobody is happy all the time. Thanks to the three Gunas and their constant changing state, this continuous run of happiness is not possible. When you are down, nothing can help you much. But when you are a little up, when you are in a Rajasic state, that is the time when you can control yourself but don't overdo things. At that time, remember that you have a duty towards your body.
What happens is that we overdo things to an extent where we are totally drained and then we get into a Tamasic state. That is a very normal phenomenon. But a yoga student should know that nothing should be overdone. You should be working for a reasonable amount of time and then stop.
When a person is a little positive, one can have some influence on him/her, something will get through. But when a person is totally down, then you can't do much in terms of influence, you have to wait. He or she has to just carry on and somebody has to help him or her to get up.
