Don’t fall at the first hurdle and fail to meet your goals in 2017. Confidence coach Jenni Winter has some smart advice to keep you on track and increase your chance of success.
1 Don’t rely on others
Is your goal something you can achieve on your own, or does it rely on others?
Where riding is concerned, we often need the help and support of an extended ‘team’, such as an instructor, farrier, vet and equine physio. That’s fine and this team is important.
However, if a goal needs another person to behave in a certain way, it could lead to a problem – for example, your partner giving up their free time to drive you to events, or your boss increasing your pay so you can afford to compete or train more often.
Relying on someone else means we don’t have total control of what happens, and this can reduce our chances of success. Perhaps you need to either rethink your goal or find ways of overcoming the obstacles in order to make it easier to achieve.
