We are seated at the backseat of his SUV, hitching a ride to avoid the heinous commute in modern day Metro Manila. And it isn’t even a considerable distance to our destination; we were perhaps that desperate to get out of where we were. You would imagine that for someone who has successfully transitioned his life to the straight-laced milieu of Singapore, Wilmer Cu would be averse to the traffic of the city. “It’s okay,” he says coolly, a glaring offset to the blazing afternoon sun piercing through the windows. “I actually don’t mind it at all.” Both hands on the steering wheel, he looks forward and smiles. It is a little mundane, perhaps nonchalant but it is very telling of the disposition he affronts with his life.

Two months ago, I was announced as the head of One Mega Group, a position previously held by our late Founder, Sari Yap, and then our current Chairman, Archie Carasco.
