Thirty years ago, Warren Beatty and Annette Bening tied the knot, setting the scene for one of Hollywood’s most successful love stories. But Annette admits when it came time to walk down the aisle on March 3, 1992, her worried friends and family feared she was making a big mistake marrying such a well-known ladies’ man.

“I remember Annette announcing she and Warren were engaged,” one friend of the couple tells. “The room went silent. They hadn’t been dating for very long and everyone knew about Warren’s reputation.”

Indeed, at the time, Warren was considered one of Hollywood’s most notorious playboys. He’d wined and dined Goldie Hawn, Diana Ross, Cher and Barbra Streisand, but had never settled down. As such, Annette decided early in their relationship to confront the elephant in the room.
