To rein in paid promotion of products and services on social media platforms by "influencers", the government will soon make it mandatory for them to put a disclaimer in the posts mentioning their association with the company and whether they were paid for such posts, the consumer affairs ministry said on Wednesday.

The Centre informed the Delhi HC on Wednesday that it will introduce at "some point in time" a framework to regulate social media platforms, including de-platforming of users by them. The government said its proposed framework would also be able to address grievances of existing cases of suspension of social media accounts.
