When It Comes to an Explosion of Colour and Life,no Season Comes Close to Matching the Impact of Spring. Along Side Landscapes, Parks and Forests Bursting Into Colour, Animals Big and Small Emerge From Their Winter Slumber. Our Expert Advice Offers You a Wealth of Ideas and Techniques to Try Out Now!
1 Insects
While it's difficult to resist the cuteness of baby farm and wild animals, you shouldn't neglect the miniature world of insects, which is also going through its own major transformation. Spring is the time when they undergo metamorphosis from larvae to pupae to adulthood. The process is remarkable and with pond insects, such as dragonflies, it's possible to capture the adults emerging from their pupae on reeds and plant stems. If you're unable to catch this don't worry, adult insects make remarkably interesting natural close-up images, too. Butterflies offer a delicacy and colour that's second to none in the natural world, while the likes of damselflies and hawkers make for amazing macro shots. You'll need to stalk with skill and move slowly if you want to get close, with morning being the best time to approach flighty subjects as they'll be less likely to be scared off.
