S&BI continually scans the message boards across Raider Nation to see what Raider fans are talking about now that the 2020 season has ended for the Raiders. We chose some of the better posts and present them here.

2020 season thoughts

The last half of the season the Raiders were a bottom feeder — one of the worst teams in the NFL. Last year it was no different.

Last year they finished 1-5 and this year they finished 2-5. When wins and losses become imperative and important as the playoffs begin to loom – this team folds and folds badly... as if they were a bottom feeder. It should be noted that the two wins the Raiders did manage this season came against two of the worst teams (Jets and Donkies) in the league and both games were nail biters... down to the last few seconds to get to the win.

Gruden has to take a hard long look at these numbers as they have become a trend under his management. It appears clear that while other teams get better throughout the year, building chemistry, developing, fixing schematic flaws, using young players so they develop throughout the season, the Raiders only appear to become more predicable while they stay the course while other teams pass them by.

Last year, it was apparent from the numbers that other teams were making much better adjustments at halftime than the Raiders; the Raiders averaged 1.7 points in the third quarter last year. It appears that this particular phenomenon has been fixed. Now, Gruden appears to have fixed folding in the second half of games – he now has to fix folding in the second half of the regular season. I do not think this will be an easy fix and Gruden will have to take a hard long look at how he manages his players and what steps he can take to make certain that his game plan evolves throughout a season so to make certain that it does not become too predicable.
