SINCE THE 1990s, with the acquisition of a decades-old watch component manufacturer in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, Chanel has combined the best of French flair and Swiss watchmaking. Each piece begins as an idea that takes shape at the Watch Creation Studio, directed by Arnaud Chastaingt at Place Vendôme in Paris. The creative gestures of the designers are followed by the skill and meticulousness of the master watchmakers, who realise the ambitions of the Creation Studio at the Chanel Watch Manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds.

Over the years, in addition to breaking the gender code in horology with the highly versatile, unisex J12 collection, Chanel has also introduced a series of watches equipped with manufacture movements, developed and assembled entirely in-house—the hallmark of fine watchmaking. Following the presentation of its 2024 collection at Watches and Wonders, we’ve put together a selection of the latest novelties driven by Chanel’s in-house calibres for the gentleman who dares to venture outside the conventional watch box.

Inspired by Gabrielle Chanel and her couture atelier at rue Cambon, the Chanel Watchmaking Creation Studio presented this new J12 watch featuring a dial that springs to life to the rhythms of the couture atelier. The figurine of Mademoiselle Chanel, her scissors and her couture dummy are animated against a precious backdrop.
