Fashion is often celebrated for its aesthetic qualities; how it captivates the eye with its artistry and visual appeal, and how it inspires awe and wonder. But when all is said and done, clothing, at its best, is not just about how it looks, but what it enables us to do. It’s about liberation, both in its fundamental purpose of functionality and its ability to empower.

This is particularly relevant in womenswear, where the trajectory of female autonomy is woven into the fabric of the garments designed for women throughout history, catalysed by the visionary designers who have redefined what it means to dress as a woman. As they say, you can tell if a designer loves women by how they celebrate the female form and spirit through their creations, and this love is the beating heart of Dior.

For Dior’s spring-summer 2025 collection, Maria Grazia Chiuri sought to peel back the layers of superficial allure to reveal the very soul of clothing—its function, its intention, and its relationship with the body it adorns—through the lens of liberated femininity, with the ancient Greek goddess of the hunt, Artemis, as her muse.
