India's trade gap narrows to $24.16 billion
India's merchandise trade deficit narrowed in August, standing at $24.16 billion compared to $24.86 billion in the same month last year, marking a 2.8 percent decrease, according to Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal. Government data revealed that merchandise exports for the month reached $34.48 billion, while imports were $58.64 billion.
1.25 lakh entities under fake GST
The Goods and Services Tax (GST) authorities in India are set to continue investigations into more than 1.25 lakh entities until December as part of efforts to curb revenue leakages related to fake input tax credit (ITC). ITC allows GST taxpayers to claim credit for taxes paid on inputs used in the production of goods or services.

In the first quarter (Q1) of FY2024, India's economic activity showed an expected acceleration, with GDP growth in constant terms rising to 7.8 percent from 6.1 percent in the previous quarter, Q4 FY2023.
