The ‘Make in India’ initiative of the Central government has propelled India’s cumulative shipments of domestically manufactured mobile phones past the significant milestone of 2 billion units during the period of 2014-2022, according to a report by global research firm Counterpoint. The report highlighted India’s impressive compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 23 percent in mobile phone shipments, attributing this growth to increased demand within the country, rising digital literacy, and strategic governmental support.
