Donnelly glad dressing room just the same as when he was last at Dark Blues

IT felt like Aaron Donnelly had never been away when he walked into the Dundee dressing room for the first time in six months.

The 21-year-old spent last season on loan from Nottingham Forest, helping the Dee secure a top-six finish.

Dundee boss Tony Docherty attempted to sign Donnelly on a permanent deal in the summer but the defender was farmed out to Colchester.

However, Docherty was determined to get his man and has now signed Donnelly for an undisclosed fee on a three-and-a-half-year contract.

The Northern Ireland international is delighted to be back at Dundee and he is raring to go against Rangers tonight.

Donnelly said: "Walking into the dressing room again for the first time, nothing has changed - it's exactly the same.

"There's a great spirit here and that's why we were so successful last season.

"I spoke to Lyall Cameron before coming up and he told me it was the same, a few lads had joined but they all know what the club and the squad is about. So although I've been away for six months, it didn't feel like that at all."
