JOHN McENROE doubts whether Andy Murray will be destined for a career in coaching if his stint working alongside Novak Djokovic ends badly.
The tennis world was sent into a state of shock when Murray announced he would be joining Djokovic's coaching team just months after the three-time Grand Slam champion retired.
The Scot called it quits after the Olympics in Paris but is now part of the backroom staff looking to guide Djokovic to a record-extending 25th Slam title.
It starts this weekend when the Australian Open gets underway a tournament Djokovic has won 10 times.
But American legend McEnroe reckons Murray's coaching credentials will come under examination if the Serb fails to sparkle.
The seven-time Slam winner said: "If Djokovic wins they'll be like, 'Wow this is incredible' and I'm sure he [Murray] will be flooded with coaching requests.
"If it doesn't work out, say Djokovic loses in the quarterfinal or semi-final, they decide not to continue, would Murray want to coach someone else?
