ANNIE DEADMAN IS HERE TO HELP YOU, THE EASY WAY!
ANNIE DEADMAN
Get fit in the garden

It’s well documented that spending time in nature can boost both our physical and mental well-being. And it doesn’t mean you have to go far from home – or spend much money. Stepping outside into the garden for an hour’s horticulture truly does count as one of your doses of strength training each week.

Cutting lawn edges with edging shears is fabulous for your upper body and core (especially if they’re blunt like mine and each cut takes three attempts). Movements, such as digging, will strengthen bones too, as well as raise your heart rate. The key is to brace your stomach muscles (without holding your breath) so they protect your back.
