The Class 95FM jock and eligible bachelorette tells us why first dates should operate like “a good radio break”.
8 DAYS: You recently went to Bangkok to host the United Nations’ University Scholars Leadership Symposium. How did that go?
SIMONE HENG: I got an e-mail about the hosting gig seven months ago through my website [simoneheng.com]. My job was to moderate the symposium. Normally when you host you don’t moderate. You’re kind of passive while the CEO is giving a speech and things like that. But during this gig I had people asking questions about Palestine and Israel and I had to make sure everyone stays in line. It was very exhausting to do it for 12 hours daily for five days! If you do the research you’re actually okay, though I was scared ’cos it’s a lot more corporate than what I’m used to. I did a lot of prep work beforehand, ’cos I didn’t want to be caught embarrassed not knowing what certain acronyms stand for. I’m becoming an adult now (laughs).
What did you learn from the experience?
I would love to do more charity work. I was very emotionally inspired listening to the speakers talk about doing charity. It was like, “Man, this is a good life’s work.” I’d be happy if I could implement some kind of change.
