With her signature blonde mane and bombshell figure, Margot Robbie is a strong contender for Hollywood’s Golden Girl title. As one of Hollywood’s most intriguing actresses, she’s sure to stake her claim in the cinematic world.
Up until now, Margot Robbie’s most memorable line on screen was in a scene in The Wolf of Wall Street, where she sat in front of Leonardo DiCaprio, dressed in a short skirt with legs spread open, and huskily purred, “And you know something else, Daddy? Mommy is just so sick and tired of wearing panties.”
At just 22 years of age then, the Australian actress had already achieved what most actors – aspiring or otherwise – would kill to have had a shot at: star in a Martin Scorsese film, act alongside one of the most respected actors of our time, and grow from being a small screen actress to a bona fide movie star overnight. With heavy hitters Scorsese, DiCaprio, and more recently, Alexander Skarsgård and Cara Delevingne, as part of her Hollywood squad, where will Margot go from here?
Dropping the bomb(shell)
Considering that Margot Robbie’s claim to fame is a full-frontal nude scene and, of course, her natural good looks, it’s easy for her to get typecast as the seductive nymph. But an inspection of her post-Scorsese filmography shows she was careful to stay away from characters that were similar to her breakout role. In Z for Zachariah, she played a post-apocalyptic survivor who’s caught in a love triangle with two other fellow survivors. In Suite Française, she was almost unrecognisable as she traded in her voluminous blonde locks for tight, mousy brown curls to portray Celine Joseph, a French villager whose town was occupied by German forces during World War II. And even though her turn as a con woman in last year’s Focus saw her going back to being the hottie of the film, critics were quick to praise her acting chops and sleight of hand.
