There appears to be happier times ahead for Marlon Dingle this week when, after a turbulent 12 months in which he’s had to deal with daughter April’s bullying ordeal and Al Chapman’s shady antics at The Woolpack, he and partner Rhona Goskirk get engaged.

But amid the celebrations, the love-struck wedding, he has the mammoth challenge of having to learn how to walk and talk again, all while adjusting to a new reality in which

Can you describe the circumstances leading up to Marlon's stroke?

He's on an absolute high. It's been a stressful few months but it's his birthday and he's going to propose to Rhona. They end up accidentally proposing to each other at the same time, and suddenly everything has come together for him.

He realises he hasn't got the ring for her, so he runs back to the house and he's scurrying around trying to find it when suddenly, out of nowhere, he is hit by this truck.

Over a period of moments, his world changes utterly.

He's rushed to hospital - can you explain the procedure he has?
