Living the LED life with Alexander from ADesignStudio.
From a childhood spent doodling floor plans of his dream home to an adulthood dedicated to the creation of innovative lighting designs, Alexander Fitzpatrick is a bright spark. Notoriously aloof when asked to describe his aesthetic style, Alex is more comfortable being defined by his chosen medium. “I design lighting with a functional and concealed approach,” he explains. “I work with LED light. Specifically, I enjoy the scientific and poetic aspects of light and how those elements can be infused to create narrative and an emotional connection.”
With a focus on efficient lighting, lowering power wattage and increasing functionality, Alex’s pieces use LED chips rather than traditional light globes. Not a fan of naked bulbs or blinding light sources, he prefers to hide his LEDs and allow the materials and form of the design to shine. “I believe this creates a relaxed environment absent from exposed light sources,” he says. “Through our functional approach, I hope people experience a sense of warmth and comfort in a space lit with our lights.”
