The cream of Melbourne’s fruitful interior design crop, Gillianne Griffiths invites us inside her studio for a closer look at her creative process.
With a master’s degree in music, majoring in conducting, Gillianne Griffiths, creative director and interior designer behind Studio Griffiths, began her career as a professional musician.
“As a musician, I also learnt about architecture and art, and these became a driving force in my creative expression, as they do for many composers,” Gillianne explains. “The volumes and forms of buildings, sculptures and paintings can inspire and shape a line of music. Subsequently, design also became a great passion and I instinctively knew it would be a natural progression when I retired from musical performance.”
Based in Melbourne on the Mornington Peninsula, she established Studio Griffiths in 2014 (after studying at Singapore’s Raffles Design Institute) with the philosophy that simplicity, style and elegance are key to successful design. Today, the practice is staffed by a tight-knit team of four, who offer a full interior architecture, design and decoration service for single and multi-residential projects.
