Crraft of Art (CoA) began its journey using music to take monuments to the people in 2010, at Sarkhej Roza in Ahmedabad. The response to the new idea was so overwhelming that Sarkhej held five Sufifestivals there. Later, Crraft of Art discovered Khan Masjid, at a small town called Dholka, 40 km from Ahmedabad and organized a Sufi Festival there in 2017.
Birwa Qureshi, Founder, Crraft of Art, says, “Sarkhej Roza is one of the most significant monuments of Ahmedabad with a mosque, a mausoleum, a palace, a large tank and many pavilions. Sufisaint Ahmed Khattu Ganj Baksh, spiritual advisor to the founder of Ahmedabad Sultan Ahmed Shah, lived here for a long time towards the end of his life. His tomb is in this complex and a mosque built in honour of him draws large crowds.” Sarkhej Roza is a prime example of the Indo-Saracenic style of architecture. In the 15th century, the historic monument was enlarged to include a palace and the lake by Sultan Mahmud Begada. The pavilions and a small private mosque too were built during this period. ”
