Boasting ample living space, this grand contemporary family home is situated within a secured golf and wildlife estate on the outskirts of Pretoria.
“Retaining the investment value of the property, the plot is situated in a secure estate within a nature reserve. Orientation of the site was north-facing with a west entry, ensuring full maximisation of the northern and southern façade,” says the owner.
This multilevel house has been designed with privacy in mind. Using a half-horseshoe shape, the architecture allows all the living and entertainment spaces to directly relate to a large courtyard. The use of steel, aluminium fenestrations, glass and cladding make the design cutting-edge and striking in its appeal.
Tasked with providing a lighting solution to a multilevel contemporary home, Afro Architectural, a specialist in bespoke residential and commercial architecture, interior design and lighting, exceeded the home owner’s brief, ensuring innovative and imaginative modern lighting was achieved. Care was given to create a seamless link to the elements used such as steel, glass and natural stone.
Oggie European Oak Herringbone planks were used on the floor of this newly built home. The plank chosen was 122mm wide and 610mm long, and finished with a WOCA Denmark white oil. Oggie has showrooms in Paarden Eiland, Parkhurst and Umhlanga Village.
