LEMONS
Known for its skin cleansing effects, lemons contain alpha hydroxy acids, which have healing properties for the skin and are both excellent for quicker healing of wounds and lightening of scars. The AHA in lemon juice removes dead skin cells, helps new cells grow, and gives the skin some of its elasticity back.
However, do not use a lemon wedge directly onto your face as it is highly acidic and may leech out natural oils, disrupting the skin’s pH. Instead, mix the juice with water or get products that contain lemon juice extracts for safer use. It is also important to use sunblock before sun exposure as lemon can make the skin photosensitive. Many people prefer to use lemon juice at night, and then wash the juice off the next morning.
COCONUT OIL
Its antioxidant properties derived from its saturated fats are good for counteracting the effects of elements that ravage the skin, including injuries that cause scars. If applied daily, the scars loosens and lightens
One of the key ingredients of coconut oil, cholesterol, facilitates in treating acne scars by forming a film around the skin. Coconut oil also contains vitamin E, and lauric, caprylic and capric acid, making it an excellent remedy to help scars fade faster. Vitamin E is known to accelerate the recovery of skin abrasions, burns and other injuries. It penetrates deeply into the skin, moisturises and acts as a barrier against environmental and free radical damages.
OLIVE OIL
Olive oil makes an excellent topical remedy for healing scars as it contains high acidity and powerful antioxidants. It also contains rejuvenating vitamins such as Vitamin E and Vitamin K, both known to promote skin healing.
