Sudha Murty Speaks about her avatar as a bestselling children's writer
Sudha Murty speaks about her avatar as a bestselling children’s writer Sudha Murty was a hit with young kids when she was at Kolkata’s Starmark bookstore. She had come down for the promotion of her latest book, The Serpent’s Revenge, wherein she presents some ‘Unusual Tales from the Mahabharata.’
We had scheduled the interview before the actual event, and with me in tow was my 13-year-old daughter, who was in the middle of her session break. When she heard I would be interviewing her favourite author, she was super excited and entreated me to take her along. Needless to say, the two hit off extremely well, with animated exchanges about the tales from Sudha’s books. “I love children,” says Sudha Murty, “While writing for children, I become an eight-year-old girl myself.” She taps her foot to the music being played at Starmark, and listens intently for a few moments. “It’s a song from the film Two States, isn’t it?” she asks her young fan, who smiles in affirmation. “Loved the film,” she says. Sudha Murty is a Hindi film buff and loves watching the high strung dramas of action and human emotions.
