Daniel Stanley was enjoying a successful career as an investment banker in India until God asked him to leave everything and head for Great Britain – a place he knew nothing about
Growing up, Daniel Stanley had a fascination with the Indian Army, primarily from his family’s involvement in the police force, but never would he have expected to become a church pioneer and pastor – certainly not in Great Britain.
After carving out a successful career in banking Daniel felt the call as a missionary to the UK. Today he is based between London and Liverpool having planted four churches here.
“I worked in national banking in Chennai, India, for about ten years,” Daniel says. “I grew up in a God-fearing family, a Pentecostal-practising family and was raised in the church. All I knew growing up were my studies and involvement in evangelistic crusades and hospital ministry.
“Though I was raised in a Pentecostal family, I gave my life to Christ as a teenager and had my baptism when I was 18. I gave my life completely to Christ.
“All my family were in the police department and my dad was keen for me to follow them and get into the higher ranks of policing. But when I was doing my university studies I was interested in the Indian Defence and I joined the National Cadet Corps while I was studying. After graduating from university I had several interviews to get into the Indian Army, but even though everything was perfect throughout, for some reason I just did not get through. So I decided to get into the banking profession.”
Daniel served in his local church until a key moment eight years ago.
“All of a sudden, in 2008, when I was sitting in my living room one Monday morning, I was watching a prophet’s message on DVD and I heard an audible voice, like someone was actually talking to me, saying, ‘My son, can you come and fast?’
