Breed Feature Indian Spitz

Despite its name, the Indian Spitz is not directly related to the German Spitz breed. It has its own unique characteristics and qualities that make it a beloved companion.

One of the notable features of the Indian Spitz is its beautiful coat. They have a double coat consisting of a thick, soft undercoat and a longer, straight outer coat.

The coat comes in a variety of colors including white, brown, black, and cream. This fluffy fur requires regular grooming to keep it clean and free from tangles.

Temperament-wise, the Indian Spitz is known for its friendly and amiable nature. They are affectionate and loyal towards their human family members, making them excellent companions. These dogs tend to be good with children and can adapt well to living in households with other pets when properly socialized.

History of Indian Spitz dog breed: The history of the Indian Spitz dog breed is quite fascinating. Although it is commonly believed to be a descendant of the German Spitz, the Indian Spitz actually has its origins in India itself. The breed gained popularity in the country during the early 20th century and has since become a beloved companion dog.

The Indian Spitz was developed by breeding various local Indian dogs with imported European Spitz breeds, including the German Spitz, Pomeranian, and Samoyed. The intention was to create a breed that possessed the attractive qualities of these foreign Spitz breeds while adapting to the local climate and lifestyle.

The breeders focused on selecting dogs with a friendly temperament, alertness, and an attractive appearance. Over time, they successfully developed a breed that embodied these traits, resulting in what is now known as the Indian Spitz.
