DOUGLAS IS CANCELLED
THURSDAY, 9PM, ITV1 COMEDY DRAMA
The troubled broadcaster at the centre of Douglas Is Cancelled finds himself caught in the crossfire between two of the spirited women in his life, as the ITV1 comedy-drama continues this week.
In the opener, airing on Thursday 27 June, veteran newsreader Douglas Bellowes (played by Hugh Bonneville) was left facing potential 'cancellation' after being accused of making sexist remarks at a wedding.
Now, his tabloid-editor wife Sheila (Alex Kingston) is furious that Douglas' seemingly manipulative Live at 6 co-host Madeline Crow (Karen Gillan) has made the situation worse by posting on social media about the incident.
But with an awkward interview looming, Douglas must decide whether he'd prefer his fiery missus or his formidable colleague to grill him in a practice run.
'I know powerful women and the things they've put up with,' shares the show's writer Steven Moffat, 62, who enjoyed penning the rivalry between Sheila and Madeline.
'I also get glimpses of how angry they are about it and their anger can be directed at people like Douglas.' Here, Alex, 61, gives us her take...
