The genuine affection between Anton Du Beke and Giovanni Pernice is lovely to behold as TV Times joins the Strictly Come Dancing stars for a video interview about their latest BBC1 travelogue.
'We just enjoy spending time together, and we're cut from the same cloth,' beams Anton, 57, who was a professional dancer on the sequinned spectacular from its beginning in 2004 before taking on a permanent judging role in 2021. 'But he's much older than I am, of course!"
'It's beautiful because Anton's my best friend I wouldn't do this with anybody else," adds Italian dance champion Giovanni, 33. 'Anton spends more time with me than his wife!'
Last year, the twinkle-toed pair enjoyed a jaunt to Sicily, where Giovanni showcased the wonders of his sun-soaked homeland. But new three-parter Anton & Giovanni's Adventures in Spain turns the tables as Anton, whose mum Conchita is Spanish, becomes tour guide.
Here, they talk us through their itinerary...
So, what appealed to you about exploring Spain?
ANTON Sicily was about Giovanni's past and where he came from, and this has been a trip down memory lane for me, as I've introduced him to Spain.
