ONE DAY NEW FROM THURSDAY 8 FEBRUARY, NETFLIX DRAMA
When students Emma Morley and Dexter Mayhew speak for the first time at their graduation in 1988, the spark between them is instant. However, they have no idea that this encounter is set to shape the rest of their lives…
Based on the bestselling 2009 novel by David Nicholls, Netflix’s 14-part romantic drama One Day follows what happens to Emma (played by This Is Going to Hurt star Ambika Mod) and Dexter (The White Lotus’ Leo Woodall) on 15 July, the anniversary of that special meeting, over the course of the next 20 years.
Although going their separate ways after university, the pair keep being drawn back to each other. But is it friendship that pulls them together, or something stronger?
Here, Ambika and Leo tell TV Times why they were excited to play out this ‘iconic’ love story…
So, what brings your characters together on their graduation night?
LEO It’s initiated by Dexter. He sees this girl, he’s instantly fascinated by her, and he’s got the bravado to just walk up to her. They realise early on, either consciously or unconsciously, that they connect.
