Gareth Malone has long enjoyed the work of German composer Johann Sebastian Bach. So the acclaimed choirmaster jumped at the chance to lead eight untrained singers in a special concert performance of the musician's choral masterpiece St John Passion based on the story of the Crucifixion of Jesus - to mark the 300th anniversary of its debut on Good Friday 1724.
'I became obsessed with Bach at A level,' enthuses the star, 48, as TV Times joins him for a video interview about the mission, which is charted in a new twopart BBC1 documentary, Gareth Malone's Easter Passion. 'St John is so moving. I hope people respond to it."
