THE GREAT BRITISH BAKE OFF
NEW TUESDAY, 8PM, C4 COOKERY
Alison Hammond is in a fit of giggles. Chatting to TV Times about the new run of The Great British Bake Off, the presenter is regaling us with the tale of falling off a workbench in the hallowed tent, fishing out her phone to show us the evidence!
'Look it's so bad!' groans Alison, whose infectious enthusiasm proved an instant hit with fans of the baking competition when she joined the C4 show last year, serving as co-host alongside Noel Fielding, who has been a staple ingredient since 2017.
'I was showing off as normal and my whole body fell off the bench. I went into a cartwheel to save myself and was so embarrassed that I just stayed down on the floor and didn't move!'
'I was watching it on the camera monitor and Alison just disappeared out of shot,' grins Noel, picking up the story as he sits down to join us. 'It looked bad, so I ran round to see if she was all right and lay by her like a koala. She was laughing her head off!"
Ah, another series, another 10 weeks of watching the delicious pairing of Alison and Noel having a ball behaving like naughty schoolchildren when judges Paul Hollywood and Dame Prue Leith aren't looking!
Here, Alison, 49, and Noel, 51, spill the baking beans on Series 15, which begins with Cake Week...
So, how does it feel to be back in the tent?
ALISON I love it! I got my nervous energy out the way last year and it now feels more comfortable slipping back in. I'm like, 'Oh, there's Prue, there's Paul and Noel' - it feels like family.
