Days for the Divine

Thursdays and Sundays are my sacred days. Somehow, life chooses to pour itself into me on these days. Good news knocks on the door, wisdom drops by, miracles roll in, ideas float around, and I'm a little less animalistic. I open my arms wide for something exceptional to happen. By the end of the day, I do find a miracle tucked in somewhere.

Over the years, my mind has been trained to power up my Thursdays. During my college days in Belgaum, it was a mandatory, religious visit to Shirdi Sai Baba Mandir. Shirdi Baba was the faith of many and mine too. On moving to Bengaluru, changing two buses and an auto to get to Vivek Nagar's church was unmissable, come what may. Even on days it seemed impossible, somehow, I would make it and wink at Infant Jesus. Lighting candles and gazing at the baby filled me with immense love for Jesus and everyone around me. I didn't know a thing about quietening the mind and stilling the body; all I knew was to pray selfishly or selflessly for my family, friends and humanity in general. This was in 1999. Naively, I believed all my prayers were answered because I went to the temple and church without fail.

Meeting Mahatria

Years later, from 2013 onwards, life also turned Sunday into my holy day. It brought Mahatria, my guru, and me together to experience infinipaths, a satsang held by him, Sunday after Sunday, for the last twenty-nine years. The more I tuned into the path, the more I experienced Sai, Jesus, Allah, and Ram, not only in the prayer halls but also in the chambers of my heart and that of others. I learnt the power of non-doing. I understood that, in prayer, we communicate with God; in meditation, we are in communion with God.
