ASSEMBLE BLOCK 1
Measurements include ¼" seam allowances. Sew with right sides together unless otherwise stated.
Press seams in directions indicated by arrows on diagrams. If no direction is specified, press seam toward darker fabric.
1. Use a white fabric pencil to mark a diagonal line on wrong side of each black print 3⅞" square.
2. Layer a marked black print square atop an aqua print 3⅞" square. Sew together with two seams, stitching ¼" on each side of marked line (Diagram 1). Cut apart on marked line. Press open to make two A triangle-squares. Each triangle-square should be 3½" square including seam allowances. Repeat to make 72 A triangle-squares total.
3. Using marked black print squares and gray print 3⅞" squares, repeat Step 2 to make 144 B triangle-squares (Diagram 2).
4. Using remaining marked black print squares and purple print 3⅞" squares, repeat Step 2 to make 72 C triangle-squares (Diagram 3).
5. Referring to Diagram 4, sew together two A triangle-squares and two B triangle-squares in pairs. Join pairs to make an aqua corner unit. The unit should be 6½" square including seam allowances. Repeat to make 36 aqua corner units total.
6. Using C triangle-squares instead of A triangle-squares, repeat Step 5 to make 36 purple corner units (Diagram 5).
