PATTERN NOTES
Doily is worked in joined rounds, some of which are turned, while others are worked in the same direction as the previous round.
Do not turn unless otherwise stated.
Weave in loose ends as work progresses.
Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.
Chain-4 at beginning of round counts as first double crochet and chain-1 unless otherwise stated.
Making long stitches with 3 or 4 yarn overs can leave loose loops at tops of stitches. To prevent this, pinch yarn-over loops on the hook and slide them around the hook toward yourself each time you are instructed to "yarn over, draw through 2 loops on hook." This keeps loops on the hook taut and posts and stitch tops neat.
When instructed to work in any picot, work in chain space of picot.
Top of treble crochet decrease has 5 horizontal strands. When instructed to work in treble crochet decrease, insert hook in space between 4th horizontal and bottom 5th strands to prevent formation of a hole.
When instructed to work in V-stitch, work in chain-2 space of V-stitch.
SPECIAL STITCHES
Triple treble crochet (trtr): Yo 4 times, insert hook in indicated st and pull up a lp, [yo, draw though 2 lps] 5 times.
Large picot: Ch 4, working in last de made (base of ch-4), insert hook in front lp (see Stitch Guide) and, at the same time, first vertical strand below front lp (3 lps on hook), yo, draw through all lps on hook.
