MERCEDES-BENZ MALAYSIA further cements its position to “Lead in Electric” with the continuation of its product offensive strategy. With the introduction of three new models added to the progressive luxury electric vehicles from the Mercedes-EQ sub-brand, the company is committed to pave the way for an electric future in Malaysia, in line with its global direction to go all-electric by the end of the decade, where market conditions allow.
THE EQS 450+
The EQS is the first all-electric luxury sedan from Mercedes-EQ to be based on the modular architecture for the luxury electric vehicle segment, fusing luxury, technology, design, functionality and connectivity, designed to delight both drivers and passengers. Available as a sole variant, the EQS 450+ is rated at 245 kW (WLTP combined electrical consumption: 19.8 – 15.7 kWh/100km; CO2 emissions: 0 g/km) with a WLTP range of up to 782km. The EQS features a host of other luxurious features including the highly anticipated MBUX Hyperscreen, rear axle steering and Burmester 3D Surround Sound System.
The EQS marks the launch of a new generation of batteries with significantly higher energy density. It has a usable energy content of around 107.8 kWh. The innovative battery management software, developed in-house, allows updates over the air (OTA). In this way, the energy management system remains up to date throughout the life cycle. In terms of the cell chemistry, the cobalt content of the cathodes has been reduced to ten percent.
