Abi Clephane, Global Ambassador for the Bruichladdich Distillery, affirms the sacrosanct connection between the land and the universally relished liquid it produces.

LAND AND DRAM

QUALITY, LEGACY, AND PEDIGREE. These sparks halo the torch of ardour that guarantees that a man-made thing reaches the wild in its most undeniably flawless expression. That labour of love and duty is performed by those who do not take it for granted that, as easy as we have it now, going the extra distance results in a better product and experience.

Bruichladdich is the physical embodiment of that platonic ideal in the whisky world. While long-established brands often remind people when they were incepted, “Since 1881” emblazoned on the Bruichladdich seal signifies something truly special.

The Islay-born brand has firmly established its prominence in a crowded whisky market by sincerely and irresistibly asserting its place of provenance. In Abi Clephane’s words, when someone takes a tipple of Bruichladdich, they open themselves up to the vista of life in Islay. “We want to be the antidote to the norms of the whisky industry and make spirits that are thought-provoking and balance positive change with profit”, she adds, her passion palpable in her eyes.

She concludes that hand-on-heart pledge with this disclaimer, “Most importantly, if it does not taste good, what’s the point in having all these philosophies?” It underlines in red the single-minded focus of one of the best whisky-makers in the world.
