Blackpool's burner crackdown for clean air
Daily Express|December 17, 2024
BLACKPOOL is cleaning up its act by taking legal action against wood burner owners using the wrong fuel.

The seaside town's new clean air rules were introduced following 700 complaints about illegal bonfires and noxious fumes since 2019.

They will control "dark smoke" from chimneys caused by lighting incorrect materials on wood burners and on open fires at beaches, parks and in gardens.

Blackpool Council said it aims to tackle burning that poses a major health risk to the local community.

Currently, the area has no smoke control areas as it is a coastal town so the air quality is generally good.
