Scientists say the processing tasks which professional drivers perform frequently, might offer some protection.

A region of the brain called the hippocampus is used for spatial memory and navigation, and has been shown to be enhanced in London taxi drivers.

It is also one of the brain regions involved in the development of Alzheimer's.
