THIS is the 17-year-old boy accused of murdering three girls with a curved kitchen knife at a Southport dance class.
Axel Rudakubana appeared in court yesterday, below, as the judge allowed his identity to be revealed in a bid to stop more riotsbreaking out across the country. Rudakubana is charged with killing Bebe King aged six, Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and nine-year-old Alice Dasilva Aguiar at the Taylor Swift-themed event on Monday.
Rudakubana smiled as he entered the glass-panelled dock at Liverpool Crown Court before pulling a prisonissue grey sweater over his face, at times rocking back and forth.
No relatives of the girls or the defendant were present in court.
As Rudakubana does not turn 18 until next Wednesday, it was expected Judge Andrew Menary KC would let automatic anonymity reporting rules stop his name from being published before then.
Instead he agreed with a submission from media, including the Daily Express, that due to the exceptional circumstances of recent riots plus fake news wrongly suggesting the suspect was an illegal immigrant it was vital the truth be made public.
