HIT-AND-RUN GIRL'S FAMILY LAUNCH OWN DRIVER HUNT

THE family of a girl left for dead in a hit-and-run are trying to find the driver after claiming police have "abandoned" them.

Jessica Frew was knocked down by a silver Vauxhall Corsa as she crossed a road in Wishaw, Lanarkshire, in April.

The driver fled as the 12-year-old lay unconscious in a pool of blood.

It is understood the car overtook several stationary vehicles and sped through a red light as Jessica crossed Cambusnethan Street while walking back from a park at 4.30pm on April 19.

Police have not found the driver six months on.
