A SCOTS soldier on the frontline in Ukraine says he is "lucky to be alive" after suffering serious injuries in a Russian bomb blast.
Adam Ennis, 36, was hit by shrapnel in the neck, legs, arms and body after a 120mm missile landed on the bonnet of his military vehicle during an attack from Russian occupiers.
The car mechanic had left his Big B's Garage business in Biggar, Lanarkshire, to join Ukraine's international legion last year - despite having no military background or training.
He was left with horrific injuries after shards of metal severed his throat.
Adam said: "Jumped out our Humvee [military car] to attack the position and a 120mm [bomb] landed on our bonnet. Took shrapnel to the face and neck with a piece entering below my ear and stopping in my throat. Got shrapnel in my face, neck, head, left hand, lower left arm, upper left arm and left hamstring.
He said his platoon will continue towards Odesa, 300 miles south of Kyiv on the coast of the Black Sea, where Russian forces have been facing a massive Ukrainian counter-attack.
He said: "Luckily all my boys are alive and will live to fight another day.
In a post on social media he is pictured alongside a fellow soldier in a makeshift hospital, and showing the extent of his injuries. He is seen sitting in a wheelchair with a bloodied bandage around his arm and one on his leg. His colleague is also in a wheelchair, with bandages wrapped around the bottom of both legs.
