KEIR Starmer was yesterday accused of "hiding" the impact of the Government's winter fuel payment cuts amid fears the policy will cause more pensioner deaths.

Ex-prime minister Rishi Sunak highlighted Labour research from 2017 which claimed Tory plans to scrap the payment for better-off OAPs could lead to almost 4000 additional deaths over winter.

Sunak asked if the Government thinks the numbers are predicted to be higher this year, with the Prime Minister focusing on increases to the state pension in response.

Starmer also used Prime Minister's Questions to urge Sunak to "apologise for the £22billion black hole" Labour argues his government left.
