BOFFINS say the Milky Way may not be destined to smash into a nearby galaxy after all - averting cosmic chaos.
Experts had believed it would collide with the Andromeda galaxy in around 4billion years.
But new research puts the chances of a "head-on collision", leading to a combined new galaxy, at 50-50.
