FORMER BBC newsreader Huw Edwards has been charged with making indecent images of children.The telly star faces three charges over alleged activity between December 2020 and April 2022. The offences are claimed to be linked to images shared on WhatsApp, police said. Edwards is accused of having six category A images – the most serious type of indecent image – plus 12 category B and 19 category C images on a phone. A Met Police spokesperson said: “Huw Edwards, 62, of Southwark, London, has been charged with three counts of making indecent images of children. “The offences relate to images shared on a WhatsApp chat.” Edwards, who was arrested in November, will appear at Westmin- ster Magistrates’ Court tomorrow. In April, the Welsh dadof-five quit the BBC after a 40-year career there. The Beeb revealed the presenter’s resignation in a short statement in April. It said: “Huw Edwards has resigned and left the BBC. “After 40 years of service, Huw explained that his decision was made on the basis of advice.”
