A FISHERMAN was knocked out in his boat when he was slapped by a whale's tail.The 40-year-old was fishing with a pal in a dinghy 1km offshore when the mammal struck the man in the head and knocked him unconscious.His shocked pal, who was not hit and escaped unhurt, dialled emergency services who launched a rescue operation off Tweed Heads in New South Wales, Australia.The victim was taken to hospital where he was stable after being treated for facial and spinal injuries.Scott Brown of Queensland Ambulance Service said the man "couldn't remember the event." John Murray of New South Wales Marine Rescue added: "It's extraordinary. I have been doing this for 22 years and I have never heard of a whale actually hitting someone in a stationary boat."
