The report is the first to tally their diet on a global scale,&nbsp;and the findings shook scientists. Experts looking at their eating habits found they are especially damaging on islands where they eat three times the number of rare creatures as on the mainland.
The greedy guzzlers scoff 981 species of bird, 463 kinds of reptiles, and 431 mammals.
Some cats have even been known to chow down on cows eating their remains after they have been killed by larger predators.
An RSPB spokesman said: "Fitting bells to collars and keeping cats inside overnight are simple ways to reduce the number of wild birds and wildlife that they catch."
