Warriors show spirit for Peet's sake

Warriors have never lost three successive games under head coach Matt Peet.

But until Wardle's length-of-the-field classic against his boyhood club, it looked a distinct possibility.

The one-time Cowbell Army favourite plucked Olly Russell's kick out of the air, shrugged off two tackles and then raced nearly 100 metres to touch down.

Back in the game, Wigan added further tries from Ryan Hampshire, Jai Field and Zach Eckersley.

Adam Keighran also kicked four conversions and two penalties as Warriors rattled up 26 unanswered points before Sam Halsall's deserved late consolation.
