AN UNCONVENTIONAL CHOICE
In his maverick style, Prince Harry has broken every commandment in the Royal rule book while choosing Meghan as his bride. The American beauty is of mixed race, an actress by profession, older than the prince by three years and a one-time divorcee! Hearteningly, the Royal family has shed its stuffy old requisites of an ideal royal bride and has welcomed Meghan with open arms!
AN AMERICAN UPBRINGING
Born and raised in California, Meghan’s parents Doria and Thomas divorced when she was six years old. Her mother, Doria Loyce Ragland, is a social worker and yoga instructor; while her father, Thomas Markle Sr, is an Emmy Award-winning lighting director. Meghan spent a lot of time on studio sets thanks to her dad’s profession, and eventually went on to become an actress herself.
A LARGE, HAPPY FAMILY
Though her parents divorced when Markle was six years old, she is said to be very close to both. She describes her mother as “free-spirited” and her father as “thoughtful and inspiring.” She also has two older paternal half-siblings, Thomas Markle Jr and Samantha Grant.
