Chris O’Dowd is a mobster in a tV version of Get Shorty
New Drama
Get Shorty
Wednesday, Sky Atlantic Hd, 9pm
Don’t expect a straight remake of the John Travolta and Danny DeVito movie when TV comedy drama Get Shorty begins this week.
Despite being based on the same 1990 Elmore Leonard crime novel, the 10-part series has jettisoned the film’s original characters. Instead, the action focuses on smalltime Nevada mobster Miles Daly, played by Irish actor Chris O’Dowd.
On a debt-collecting job in LA for crime matriarch Amara (Lidia Porto), Miles finds himself in possession of a movie script, and sees a chance to turn his back on crime, become a movie producer and win back his estranged wife, Katie (Lucy Walters).
